9 things you must bring for your Cancun trip

I have wrote several posts about our Cancun budget travel and restaurants review in both Hyatt Ziva and Riu Palace.

This post’s theme is 9 must-bring packing list for your Cancun vacation.

Be sure to bring multiple swimsuits because you would mos likely swim a lot in your hotel. I brought three swimsuits. Turns out the first two look better than the grey one in Cancun beach. So I do recommend bringing swimsuits with bright colors.

I also bought three men’s swimsuits in different colors for Joseph on Amazon.

2. Cover-Ups

I bought two cover-ups from Amazon, one black and one white. I really love them, especially the white one.

3. Water shoes

If you plan to go to parks like Xelha, Xcaret, or Xplore, remember to bring at least one pair of water shoes. The shoes are very weightless, airy, and comfortable, and it drys quickly!

This one is for Joseph:

4. Sunscreen lotion

Since sunscreen lotion can’t be carried on the airplane, we checked in one luggage (for Gold Delta Skymiles Card holder, the first check-in luggage is free). We bought four 3oz lotions with us, and used 3 bottles for the two of us in 6 days. If your trip includes Chichen Itza, you definitely need to bring sunscreen lotion with high SPF.

5. Sunglasses

Sunglasses and sun hats (in No. 6) are must-bring, especially if you plan to go to Chichen Itza. Usually when you arrive at Chichen Ita, it’s around noon time to 2pm, so you really need to protect yourself from sunburn. Also, keep hydrated!!

7. Insect Repellent Spray

Make sure to bring Insect Repellent with you to Cancun. The hotel zone is pretty safe, if you only stay there. But if you are going to other sites, remember to bring Insect Repellent just in case.

8. Waterproof Camera or Waterproof Phone Case

There are a lot of underwater activities in Cancun, such as Snorkeling, Diving, Cenote swimming, and so on. You don’t want to miss the happy moments of your family and those amazing underwater view. We brought a waterproof Phone Case, and it works really well.

9. Snorkeling Sets

If you want to go snorkeling and don’t want to spend money renting one, you should bring your own snorkeling sets. After all, there are so many snorkeling opportunities in Cancun.

That’s about it. Also bring more clothes to change since you would sweat a lot in Cancun. Besides, remember to bring lots of $1 for tips. We brought 100 $1s and almost spent all of them.

Can’t wait for another trip to Cancun!
